RSS / Atom feed

Kanbu can also track an RSS or Atom feed as a source — typically a blog, news, or press-release feed. New items are added to the knowledge base automatically, without adding each article by hand.

1. How it works

  1. In Knowledge base, click +Add documents and select the RSS/Atom tab.
  2. Paste the feed URL (e.g. https://www.yourwebsite.com/blog/feed) and confirm.
  3. Kanbu downloads the feed and processes each item as its own source — each with its own processing status (Parsing, Embedding, Done, Error).
  4. On later checks, Kanbu re-downloads the feed and adds only new or changed items — based on the publish date in the feed itself, not on when you added the feed.

2. What you need

  • A publicly accessible feed URL in RSS or Atom format.
  • Each item needs at least a link or a title so Kanbu can identify it. Most feeds also include a guid, which Kanbu uses when present — this is the default behavior for the vast majority of CMS and blogging platforms.

3. When it's useful

  • A company blog or news hub, where you want the chatbot to know about the newest articles without manual work.
  • Press releases or announcements that change more often than the rest of your site.
  • Product news published as a feed alongside your regular web pages.

For an online store's product catalog, use the product Feed (XML, Heureka, Zboží.cz, or Google Merchant) available on the E-commerce agent type instead of an RSS feed — see E-commerce agent. An RSS/Atom source is meant for text content (articles, news), not structured product data.

Frequently asked questions

  • How often does Kanbu check the feed?

According to that source's automatic refresh setting — see Updating sources.

  • What happens if an article disappears from the feed?

It follows the same removal-behavior setting as other monitored sources (Flag / Remove / Ignore).

  • Does Kanbu support other feed formats too?

Yes — for online store product catalogs, Kanbu also supports the Heureka, Zboží.cz, and Google Merchant schemas (all in XML format) — see E-commerce agent.
